We have started a new project at the Lonny Wilsoncroft Community Centre called Pantry Support. Pantry Support is there to help local families to access ambient and fresh food products each week, to aid them through the difficult winter months when energy bills are set to rise. We are working with the Food 4 Thought Alliance, the central food hub in Derby. This project has been funded by a grant from the Tom Carey Fund through Foundation Derbyshire. In the current situation the NZCA is still helping local residents in need. We are working very hard to provide meals and food parcels for our more vulnerable residents. I am asking for your help at this time, to come up with some fundraising ideas to help us keep our coffers topped up. We are looking forward to joining the rest of the city on World Friendship Day by having a socially distancing street party. (Abit like people did for VE day). What have you been up to during this unusual time when we have been in lockdown? I want to put together a photographic and written history of what the residents of the New Zealand area have been doing during this unprecedented time. If we get enough photographs, stories, poems works of art etc. We could put on an exhibition at the community centre, once it is open again. At the very least we can showcase some photographs or writing in the magazine.
